SST 430: Overview
SST 430 is a corrosion resistant stainless steel grade. This ferritic magnetic grade is the most popular of all straight chromium stainless steels. SST 430 features an attractive sheen and increased oxidation resistance due to the higher presence of chrome. SST 430 is often referred to as “17 chrome stainless”.
Luminous and Resistant
- Corrosion resistant stainless steel, SST 430 is used in many common household applications such as sinks, dish washers, range hoods and flatware. Strong oxidation resistant qualities make SST 430 optimal for kitchen, consumer, and food and beverage processing equipment. The attractive bright finish is easily maintained with reasonable care and cleaning.
- Oxidation resistant stainless steel grades, like SST 430, are also useful for construction purposes. In addition to corrosion resistant properties, SST 430 is ductile and easily formed through a variety of methods. A typical application is interior and exterior trim where oxidation resistance and economy is valued over high strength.
