SST 347: Intergranular Corrosion Resistant AMS 5512 Steel Plates
SST 347 is a modification of SST 304. This grade is intergranular corrosion resistant and stabilized with columbium and tantalum. The presence of columbium is especially beneficial for high temperature operation and reliability in corrosive environments. SST 347 is also referred to as AMS 5512 by aerospace industry standards.
Excellent Endurance
• SST 347 will remain stable in a temperature operating range of 800°F through to 16000 F and under severely corrosive conditions. This grade is especially beneficial to steel service centers, chemical processing and pressure vessel production .
• Intergranular corrosion resistant properties prevent oxidation and deterioration at the grain boundaries in stainless steel. Intergranular corrosion occurs when the grain boundaries of austenitic stainless steel are exposed to temperatures between 850'F and 1450'F. With the addition of heat resistant elements, AMS 5512 was created and remains durable in aerospace, refining, automotive and other high temperature, high toxicity applications.
