SST 316 ELC: Overview
SST 316 ELC is more resistant to general corrosion and pitting than typical chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel. Also known as AMS 5507 and SST 316L, this Molybdenum bearing austenitic stainless steel has a .03% maximum carbon, making this grade optimal for welding.
Resistance and Reliability
- Food and pharmaceutical processing as well as architectural production have utilized SST 316 ELC and SST 316 Dual L for a range of applications. 316 Dual L has also been useful to chemical, petroleum, pulp, paper and textile manufactures. This grade will reliably perform in settings exposed to harsh or highly corrosive conditions.
- Marine structures have benefitted from the oxidation resistant properties of SST 316 ELC and Dual L grades that effectively maintain integrity in salt concentrations and elements that eat through other types of steel.
- SST 316 ELC is also known as AMS 5507, the aerospace material industry standard for stainless steel plate 316 L. AMS 5507 will stand up against pitting and deterioration.
